Me and my ADHD brain:

This is a picture of me when my team and I won first place in the Entrepreneurship and Business Plan Competition among high schools in my city in 2025.
Having an ADHD brain is weird. Most of the time, I feel like a space cadet. But when a subject or activity really interests me, I can become incredibly focused and do really well at it.
As my mom often says, “Work with the brain you have.”

Hi I am Alan Scott Langsford. I was born and raised in Canada. I grew up in Pender Harbour B.C. and then moved to Vancouver B.C. Currently I am living in Indonesia with my family.
And this here is my son Aidan Ray Satriyo Langsford.
Hi ~
I am helping him fundraise for his project. Which is to build, Early Support to Prevent Youth Suicide in Indonesia.
Last April, a friend of ours lost a friend to suicide. The girl who died was only 21 years old.
This event happened after several reports of suicide involving other universities in cities across Indonesia.
Many Indonesian students are struggling with depression, anxiety, loneliness, and despair. We believe that no student should have to face those challenges alone.
Now we know we have to do something, and we had to act quickly.
So, we got together with some friends that are university students by the way and young programmers, to talk about what we could do. While researching effective ways to prevent suicide, we found a very interesting research paper with the title of:
“Peer Support as a Protective Factor Against Suicide Risk in Generation Z : A Study in Indonesia,” published in November 2025 (click on the link to get the research paper from ResearchGate).
The objective of the study was to understand the association between peer support and suicide risk among Gen Z individuals.
And the findings were striking.
There was a very strong correlation between the availability of peer support and reduced risk of suicide.
As many as 97% of those with high levels of peer support reported to have low levels of suicidal ideation! (while 88% of those with low levels of peer support reported high levels of ideation).
That is a very good thing.
The study concluded that there is a strong correlation between the peer support and a reduced risk of suicide among Gen Z in Indonesia, most likely because Indonesia has a collectivist culture. Additionally, peer support delivered through a digital platform can also be very effective.
So, after a series of serious discussions, the idea for LifeLines was born.
And how we are going to do this is we are going to build an online platform to create the first nationwide Online Peer Support Network, especially for university students across Indonesia, so that every student can access peer support no matter where they are.
We are also building a supportive and friendly AI chatbot on the same platform that will be accessible 24/7 to ensure that any student who is struggling can reach out for support at any time. Even at 3 in the morning.
We are now raising 15,000 CAD to help make this project a reality. The funds will be used to:
1. Build a digital platform, including a website and mobile apps, where university students who sign up as peer supporters can make their profiles available.
2. Hire and pay trainers to provide training for peer supporters in skills such as active listening, empathy, and essential support skills.
3. Cover operational and technical costs.
4. Develop a supportive AI chatbot to make support available 24/7 on our platform.
5. Outreach and awareness programs
Through LifeLines, we hope to create a safe, supportive, and accessible network where students can find understanding, encouragement, and connection when it is needed most.
Together, we can help prevent suicide by strengthening peer support, increasing access to help, and giving young people hope.
We want every student to know that they are not alone, that their struggles matter, and that there are people who will care and listen for them.
Please consider supporting the LifeLines Project. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to building a support network where struggling students can find someone to talk to when they need support most.
Thank you for believing in this project and helping us make it possible.
Thank you !
We are deeply grateful for your generosity. Every donation, no matter the size, helps us move closer to creating a world where no young person has to face their struggles alone. Every dollar truly makes a difference. ❤️
